April 22nd is Earth Day

This Sunday is Earth Day. And many big box stores have been aware of this and are taking full advantage of that fact that people are more aware of global warming crisis. Stores like Loblaws, Canadian Tire etc. are [re]introducing a line of “green” products, which are more eco-friendly. I suppose, it’s good in a way, because they are trying to get people to be more environmentally conscious. On the other hand it can be viewed by some as the mega corporation trying to cash in on people’s sympathy for the environment.

In any case, Earth Day is drawing near, and many usually wonder what can be done. Well you can think globally and act locally. For instance you can coordinate with your neihbours and go around your neighbourhood picking up litter or you can plant trees in your yards. Simple things like that can go a long way towards helping the environment.

If you want to do something community-oriented on a much larger school then why not check out the Earth Day website for a listing of events in your area that you could participate in. The weather this weekend will be really nice so why not get out there and help out the environment.
