Green Speech

You may or may not be familiar with the name Rob Grand. If you are, then you’ll know that he is the owner of Grassroots, which has 2 locations (one on the Danforth and one in the Annex). During The 2007 Green Living Show, Rob had the opportunity to speak to the crowd about green consumerism.

One of the points that he raises is that we should consume less. That would sound odd, given that he’s a store owner, but his first concern isn’t the bottom line, it’s the environment. And this is something we all could easily do.

Another point he mentioned, is the 3R’s. Normally when we think of the 3R’s we think – Recycle – Reduce – Reuse. But he suggests we should rearrange the 3R’s this way – Reduce – Reuse – Recycle. Recycling is great, but, as Rob suggests, it doesn’t address the problem of consumption.

Check out Rob’s Blog to read excerpts from his speech. I think it’s a very interesting read. And if you’re over along the Danforth or in the Annex, be sure to check out Grassroots. You’ll be amazed at the stuff you can find in there.
