If you’re looking fun for something to do this weekend in the Toronto area, here are some events you can take in.
If you consider yourself to be a fashionista, or if your just looking to get some new clothes for the upcoming colder months, then you may want to check out The Fall Clothing Show being held at The Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place. I’ve been to some of the other clothing shows held in the summer, and it’s definitely woth checking out. You get a mix of different vendors and can find some one of a kind items for a relatively reasonable price. The show is going on all weekend, so be sure to check out the website for more details.
A plethora of clothing (especially in a large space such as The Better Living Centre) may not be for everyone. If books, magazines or reading are more your speed then you may want to check out The Word On The Street Festival on Sunday, September 28, 2008 between 11 am and 6 pm. The event is held by Queen’s Park, so traffic will be closed down in that area. Your best bet for getting there is by TTC, so check out the site for directions.
Pedestrian Sundays happen on the last Sunday of each month from May through to October. What happens is that streets in the Kensington Market area are closed off to automobile traffic thus allowing pedestrians, rollerbladers and cyclists to take control of the streets. The festival features musicians and local vendors and is a great place to take a stroll since the Kensington Market area feels like it’s an entirely different city once you’re in there.
If you’d prefer to participate in something a little more art-y and improv-y then you may want to head over to Riverdale Park at exactly 2:00 pm for The MP3 Experiment Toronto. Improv Everywhere, best known for their Food Court Musical or their Human Mirror are asking people around the Toronto area to come down to Riverdale Park and participate in this little bit of improv. For more details check out the MP3 Experiment Toronto page for details. There is a file you have to download to your MP3 player and they have some requirements on what to wear and bring with you. Oh, and just a note. They ask that anyone that comes down to particpate (as opposed to just watching). They’ll have plenty of people covering the event. The more people they get to participate, the more fun it will be.
This weekend is also the weekend for the first annual Havana Cultura Festival. A festival created to celebrate the Cuban essence of life. Be sure to check out the website for more info about events and event locations. Thanks to RyeBlogger for the info!

Cool.
Hope you enjoyed your time at the Diaz concert. I ended up going to The Word On The Street as well as Pedestrian Sundays in Kensginton Market. I took a few pictures which are found in the Flickr sidebar on the right. I had a great time at both events.
