TTC Tickets No Longer Valid
As of today (September 29, 2008), TTC Adult Tickets are not longer accepted as valid fare. If you’re still hoarding a bunch of those paper tickets it’s suggested that you exchange them at the TTC MDP Office for tokens.
You can exchange your Adult tickets for tokens at two locations, only between September 15 and October 31, 2008:
Bloor-Yonge Subway Station, South Collector Booth: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 7:00pm
Metropass Discount Plan (MDP) Office, 1900 Yonge Street, (Davisville Station – street level): Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
For more information about Ticket Exchanges please visit the TTC website.
The TTC says that they’re phasing out the Adult Tickets to curb production of counterfeit tickets, although according to a post I was reading on BlogTo about the TTC tickets being phased out, there was a story regarding a TTC collector who sold counterfeit tickets. TTC collector sold fake TTC tickets from booth: officials
Many are applauding TTC for (finally) doing away with the tickets, but are quick to point out that this move should have been made years ago. And that the TTC should look to the latest technology and implement it into their fare system. With the Prestocard Pilot Program winding down tomorrow, it’s probably only a matter of time before we see the TTC jumping on board (albeit very slowly) to an automated fare payment system.
