Walking In October

In an effort to promote a more active form of transportation and as a means of linking the various events going around the city, Toronto has dubbed October to be the month of the Toronto Walking Festival

I came across this little nugget of information while reading the Spacing Toronto Blog.

With a plethora of events going on this month such as Nuit Blanche, ROMWalks and Pedestrian Sundays, it’s a good opportunity for the city to promote itself and the enjoyable activity of walking.  Possibly making people see that Toronto is a walkable city (although, it still has a long way to go to be a truly walkable city)

If you want to see a listing of the various events going on this month click on the link below.

Walking Events in the City of Toronto

In order to launch the Toronto Walking Festival, the city is having a (yup you guessed it!) short walk from City Hall. For more details on the Toronto Walking Festival launch click on the link below.

You can pick up a free pedometer and an events calendar if you happen to be at the launch.  So get out there and walk the city of Toronto.  I think you’ll be surprised at the hidden gems you’ll find within the city.
