I discussed a Tree Hugger post about a biodegradable chewing gum made by a small cooperative in Mexico.
I have long been on a search for a natural gum. And the only one that I have seen sold here around Toronto was Spry Gum. I’m sure there are a couple of other brands but Spry seems to be the one that consistently pops up at the health food stores that I go to.
I have tried Spry Gum and I have no problems with it, I just wish there was a little more choice here in Canada at least.
I had read about Glee Gum when I wrote the post that I linked to in the first paragraph. I knew they sold it in the US, and had resolved to pick up a few packs (or maybe even an entire box) of Glee Gum next time I visited the US. However, when I was in the Grassroots store on the Danforth on Sunday to refill my bottle of laundry liquid, I came across some Glee Gum at the cash register and decided to pick a couple of packs up.
I like the way the gum is packaged as it [the gum] is merely in the box (sort of like a box of Chiclets way back when before they introduced blister packs). While I know they have many other flavours, I’m glad that Grassroots was able to score a couple, I guess they’re doing a test run to see how well it will sell.
If you want to learn more about Glee Gum be sure to check out there website, or give it a try for yourself. Visit one of the Grassroots store locations and pick up a pack for yourself. Here’s to happy chewing!
