With the TTC set to introduce a new set of subway cars, one can’t help but wonder what will happen with the old cars that currently run on the TTC tracks.
According to an article on TheStar.com that I came across via Spacing Toronto’s Blog, an unknown company has approached the TTC about purchasing its old subway cars.
An undisclosed company has approached the TTC to buy 135 H5 and 126 H6 cars to be used on a potential transit system in another jurisdiction, says the report. But the buyer won’t know until later this year whether it has the contract to build and operate the other system.
Selling the cars instead of scrapping them would mean more cash for the TTC, says the report.
