Sporty recycled produce bags

DIY projects are always fun and a good way to make good use of things that may have outlived their original usefulness.

An article on Planet Green brings you a way to make your own produce bags out of sports jerseys.  With Christmas coming up in about a month you may want to consider making these as a gift for that vegetarian, sports-loving relative or friend of yours.

Materials you will need for this project include: a basketball jersey (obviously), a sewing machine, a drawstring, scissors and thread.

You’ll want to start with clean, dry jerseys—leftovers from your high school dunking days are fine, as long as you’ve gotten all the sweat off—in any size, and cut it below the armholes. Now you’re left with one rectangle of fabric that you cut in half shortways, so you have two smaller rectangles (keep cutting until you get to the size that works best for you).
